Record signing Sangaré debuts in Brentford 3-0 win

Brentford opened their Premier League campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Tottenham in a lopsided London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The home side dominated from the opening whistle and took a deserved three-goal lead before the hour mark.

Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 12th minute, converting from close range after Tottenham’s defence failed to clear a dangerous cross.

Vitaly Janelt doubled the lead 21 minutes later with a composed finish after being played through on goal.

Michael Kayode completed the scoring four minutes after half-time, heading powerfully past the Tottenham goalkeeper from a corner.

Igor Thiago had the opportunity to extend the lead further from the penalty spot but saw his effort saved, keeping the visitors’ slim hopes alive momentarily.

Mamadou Sangaré, Brentford’s record acquisition, was handed his Premier League debut in the starting eleven.

The midfield signing from Aston Villa was joined in the lineup by fellow new arrivals.

Jannik Schuster, Jaidon Anthony and Callum Wilson, who joined the club during the summer transfer window, were named among the substitutes.

Brentford’s starting XI comprised Kelleher in goal, with Kayode, Ajer, Collins and Lewis-Potter forming the back four.

Janelt, Sangaré and Jensen occupied midfield positions, while Ouattara, Thiago and Schade led the attacking line.

The bench featured Valdimarsson, Hickey, Henry, Pinnock, Yarmoliuk, Wilson, Anthony, Damsgaard and Schuster.

Tottenham fielded Kinsky as goalkeeper, with Gray, Van Hecke, Senesi and Robertson comprising the defensive unit.

Tonali and Bergvall operated in central midfield, while Moore, Gallagher and Tel supported striker Richarlison in attack.

Substitute options included Dubravka, Danso, Maddison, Udogie, Fernandes, Solanke, Bentancur, Davies and Williams-Barnett.
